OOOOHHHH BABY I LIKE IT HARD!!!!

AS IN WAX YOU DIRTY GLAMAZONS!!!Yes my new obsession is HARD wax! There's nothing more UN-glamorous than an untrimmed hedge in the lady department. Although I firmly believe it's a personal choice on whether to chop down the entire tree or to just trim the hedge. BUT I also believe no mater which you prefer, there is only ONE way to do it - HARD WAX!!! This type of wax is specifically made for coarse hair and in a way it shrink wraps the hairs by hardening after it is applied eliminating the use of strips. It's MUCH MUCH less messy than traditional strip waxing , and a tad less painful also (I mean about as painless as bikini waxing CAN be), and also it takes about 15-20 min (if the technician is skilled and efficient) to complete a full brazilian!!!I recently decided I needed a new waxing salon, and so I did a bit of research and found a place located right around my apartment called HONEY SPA www.honeyspabrooklyn.com . This place is AMAZING!!! Super Glam, it smells like floral incense, its supremely clean, they play relaxing classical music while the beautiful hungarian waxing technician works her magic! They are super friendly and made me feel like I wouldn't mind getting a wax weekly!!! (I guess I wouldnt go that far) they even wear spotless white lab coats.  The best part.....its glamourously priced as well!!!! My 15 min brazilian was only $35.00!! a regular wax will cost you double that at a mediocre slightly dingy salon with bad lighting! I'd seriously recommend any of you glamettes to take the trip to Greenpoint for your monthly trimming! They also offer other services such as facials, mani's, pedis, massages all at great glamorous prices as well!!HAPPY WAXING MY LOVLIES!xo M

Oh you Skinny Bitch!!!

We all love a good cocktail don't we?? Problem is we usually don't stop at one and we tend to go for the sugary sweet concoctions that are a whopping 150+ calories! Well ladies time to pay a little more attention to your waistlines! My Dear friend Katie (who happens to be one SKINNY BITCH) introduced me to this glamouricious drink a few months back and since then it's all I consume! The "skinny bitch" is as follows:1 part Vodka 1 part Water and lemon or lime, (I Prefer extra lemon).  Yup my little glamourettes that's all there is! This little cocktail will only cost you about 65 calories, as opposed to a Vodka Tonic which is approx 200 calories, or a Vodka Cran. which is 172 calories, and a Cosmo which is about 150 calories! Plus it hydrates AND intoxicates! For something a little fruity try raspberry vodka, if your entertaining you can glam it up by adding some fresh raspberries to the glass! (super glamourific). For something extra refreshing try muddling some mint leaves, and a spritz of lemon and voila a satisfying sexy cocktail that will leave your mouth refreshed and waistline skinny! (It also looks super glam in a big glass pitcher for summer entertaining). Play around with different flavors of vodka and create your own skinny bitch! Trick is don't add anything with extra calories, Fresh mashed up fruit is fine, as well as fresh mint etc etc..you get the point!Cheersxo M

OMBRE this....

HAIR?!?! WHAT? Yup ladies that's right ombre hair! The newest trend to hit beauty salons. This new extended root look is supposed to evoke beachy laziness. It goes against all preconceived rules of beauty. "MUST GET ROOTS TOUCHED UP BEFORE THEY HIT 1 1/2"" etc etc. NOT ANYMORE my little glamorous beautystas! Let those roots grow! "It's definitely the more economical way of getting the look. The actual process is the art of "Hair Painting"  in which a highly skilled and talented beautician literally paints down your strands very strategically to give you that messy perfect imperfection of highlights and tones. Tons of celebs are flocking to this new trend, some are more veterans of the looks like Nicole Richie and Erin Wasson. It's a BEAUTIFUL finish but a long and grueling 4 hr process. I myself became obsessed with this look when I came across a spread in Marie Claire mag and I HAD to have it. Although I was unaware at the time that this was an actual process and I thought I could just show up with a picture of what I wanted but I was explained that not anyone can just do that. My hairdresser who was great but could not achieve the look perfectly, gave me reddish/caramel highlights and applied a caramel glaze on top to tone it down, an attempt at Ombre. While the highlights were fabulous!  It did not look Ombre to me at all so I took matters into my own hands and being a creative being and willing to give all things a try I purchased an "over the counter" hair dye a tone darker than my newly highlighted hair and applied it strategically to the top portion of the head blending downward and leaving the rest dry. While I can't say that I would recommend this technique, it was subtle but it did give me more of the effect I was looking for without costing me  the $300.00 it would have cost at L'Atelier de Laurie in the East Village. I hear they do amazing work esp in the area of "hair painting". My total dye job incl. my store-bought dye was $150.00..but that's Brooklyn prices. This look is  so un-glamorously GLAM! Fantastic for the spring and summer and looks amazing with a tan so ladies cancel those root touch up appointments and embrace the roots! Yours truly M xo

Suddenly Single.....

Yes i am.....suddenly single. While it's a relief, and i feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. The burden i couldnt see when i was living under the cloud of "love" is clear as day now.  The worrying is gone, the anxiety about the future is well its still there but in a different way. Im Happier....MUCH happier. Everything in my life right now couldnt be better. New apt.. HELLO BROOKLYN!! Great friends, and im dating again which is super fun but super hard as well.. Why is it that all we want is what we can't have. The guy thats emotionally unavailable, The bad boy who couldnt seem to care less if you were there or not there?? Im trying so hard to not sink into the old habits and go for the nice boys (or men) who have all their chicks in a row. Great job, great place, great manners! But theres something so appealing about the one who wont call, the one who only says hi when he sees you on the street...even if hes not all that great looking and isnt currently employed....just the fact that he wont pay any mind to me is what will draw me in....HATE THAT! The one who calls the night after meeting you and politely asks you to dinner, and pulls the chair out, holds your coat open, sends you flowers for your birthday after only one date, the one who made you laugh all through dinner and made you smile when he held open the doors, texts you that he can't wait to see you again and let me say is absolutely adorable....why is it that hes the one who i cant seem to get myself to feel that chemistry with....maybe I should tell him to ignore me for a few days. Us single girls complain all the time about not being able to find a nice guy but I think we are the dumbasses who chose to ignore the nice ones and focus all our attention on the not so nice ones....in reality we are what holds us back from happiness.I'm vowing now to stop, no more bad boys, and the nice ones will get my attention for once.....although no one said i can't just have a little fun with the bad ones, bc we all know they are ridiculously fun!....if I know where I stand whats the harm... :) hehe
